Title: Kinematic lensing: explore the astrophysical systematics

Abstract:
Kinematic lensing is a new weak lensing technique aiming to reduce shape noise with galaxy kinematics. By combining the traditional shape measurement and the Tully-Fisher relation, it directly infers a disk galaxy’s intrinsic shape and thus breaks the shape-shear degeneracy. However, its systematics have not been thoroughly studied. One possible systematic can originate from the environmental dependence of the Tully-Fisher relation (TED), which may introduce additional coherent signals in cosmic shear measurements. In this talk, I will begin by introducing the concept of kinematic lensing and its powerful applications. Then I will discuss how we explore the TED systematic in IllustrisTNG simulation and present our results. Finally, I will touch upon the future directions of this innovative approach.
