Abstract:

Clumps are dense structures of gas and dust within molecular clouds. Plank observations identify a list of galactic clumps, often known as the Planck Catalog of Galactic Cold Clumps (PGCCs). Molecular cores are embedded within clumps which are the starting point of star formations. Based on their evolutionary status, cores are often classified as starless, prestellar, and protostellar -- the end product of a low-mass core is a Solar type of system. How are protostellar systems born from prestellar cores? How is the multiplicity of cores affected by the surrounding environment within the molecular clouds? How do protostars' physical and chemical properties change with the core evolution? These are some fundamental questions we will try to explain and discuss based on the recent ALMA survey toward the Orion PGCCs (ALMASOP). We will also discuss how these physical and chemical properties are linked with planetary composition and our chemical origin.
